About this project
In 2021, Olathe Health completed a major renovation of the 5th floor at Olathe Medical Center in Olathe, Kansas. The project focused on modernizing outdated infrastructure to better serve patients and staff. Key upgrades included transforming patient rooms into private and semi-private spaces with calming finishes and improved lighting. Clinical areas were redesigned for efficiency, featuring decentralized nursing stations and streamlined supply storage to enhance care delivery and staff response times.
POST-OP RECOVERY UNIt
Shield partnered with Pulse Design Group to design custom patient room canopy headwalls for the 18 post-op recovery rooms. The headwalls included a stainless steel frame, acrylic solid surface exterior panels, wood-look laminate side panels, as well as integrated canopy lighting.
While working on the headwall design, Shield was approached to manufacture acrylic solid surface footwall panels, as well as a customized linen cart that stored under the cabinetry in the room.
I would say the best part about the collaboration is the customization, SHIELD never balks at doing a custom product. So it could be a standard product, but if we need to change it for the client, it’s never ‘oh, we can’t do this, it’s how do we do that.
