The word is getting out...

DOME, designed in partnership with Perkins & Will, is something we are truly passionate about. In January 2020, there were 580,466 people experiencing homelessness in America, according to endhomelessness.org. Because of this, we felt compelled to design DOME as a solution to the increased need for interim and emergency housing. Its features focus on humanity and dignity, while still maintaining safety and security.

“For one of the wealthiest nations in the world, the U.S. continues to face a growing socioeconomic gap in housing availability. Not only is DOME affordable, durable and mobile, it provides the ability to re-educate and re-establish the fundamentals of protected living for this underserved community.”

The response to DOME has been very positive. Fast Company named it a "world changing idea," and it has also been featured by Dezeen, Archpaper, and Inhabitat. With 150+ units currently heading to various sites across the country, we hope that word will continue to spread and our goal of changing the landscape of homelessness in America can be achieved.

Recently, KMBC 9 news in Kansas City featured City Union Mission and its approach to winter capacity for their homeless shelters. The solution to that capacity issue was found with the help of Shield. Check out the video below:
